The Particle Discharger is a 3x2 weapon room obtained when the player buys the Fashionably Late (Supporter Pack). The pack costs 45$ and can be bought by going to www.pixelstarships.com and scrolling down to the Shop section. The Particle Discharger can also be obtained if the player pledged A$ 32 AUD or more at the Pixel Starships Kickstarter found here
Usage
In Combat
The Particle Discharger is basically a level 1 Mineral Mining Laser, the only difference being projectile speed. As such, the Particle Discharger is treated more or less the same as the Mineral Mining Laser. It's best used when paired with other weaponry, and Armor is a must due to the Particle Discharger's two maximum power.
When To Use
The Particle Discharger is quite uncommon to see, due to the paywall needed to unlock it. Most players that have the Particle Discharger usually use it if they are running a gunship strategy. The Particle Discharger can offer a bit of extra DPS, making it a nice addition if there is leftover space.
AI
AI for rooms like the Particle Discharger is relatively straightforward. As long as the Particle Discharger's AI is targeting the same rooms in conjunction with the other weapons on a player’s ship, it should be fine.
Crew Interactions
The Particle Discharger is buffed with the Weapon stat on crew. The reload reduction formula applied when the Particle Discharger is buffed can be found here.
Trivia
- The Particle Discharger used to be called the Phaser.
- The Particle Discharger used to have a hidden "breach" stat. This stat wasn't programmed to do anything, but it did override the normal damage when it activated. This is why the Particle Discharger used to deal no damage with seemingly no explanation.
- In the game files, the Particle Discharger is referred to as "Special Laser Room".
